Crash Goes to the Library

Crash the Opossum Visits the Children’s Program

Crash and I visited the Portland Public Library of Sumner County recently. A good time was had by all. The children and the library staff, met our ambassador and a few were even brave enough to feed him. Crash, of course, worked his way into everyone’s hearts.

All About Education and Connection

Crash’s visit was an educational experience but also about connection. His visit provided a unique opportunity for the children to engage with nature in a personal and meaningful way. Holding a piece of fruit for Crash or simply watching him move around sparked a sense of wonder and curiosity that pictures in a book just can’t match. Mike shared fascinating insights into the life of an opossum and the importance of wildlife conservation. The children learned about Crash’s unique journey, from his early life challenges to his current role as a Wildlife Ambassador.

A Misunderstood Animal

Opossums play a vital role in our ecosystem controlling pests like ticks. They’re often misunderstood creatures deserving of our respect and protection. The children left with a newfound appreciation for these nocturnal marsupials and the critical work done by wildlife rehabilitators.

Thank You to the Library Staff

A big thank you goes out to the wonderful team at the Portland Public Library for inviting Crash to their children’s program. Their dedication to wildlife conservation and education is truly inspiring, and we’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit them.
